PROGRAM

The first program highlights of the Käänne Festival will be announced soon. Stay tuned!

The festival promises inspiring talks and discussions featuring both domestic and international speakers. Among them are U.S. economics professor Clara Mattei, who explores the connections between austerity and fascism, and British economist and author Grace Blakeley, who unveils the mechanisms of vulture capitalism.

The festival will also host Will Stronge from the UK-based Autonomy Academy, a leading research organization on shorter working hours. In addition, discussions will feature Finnish figures in politics, economics, and research, such as Jussi Herlin, Matti Vanhanen, Li Andersson, and Timo Miettinen. Topics will range from Ukraine and Palestine to workshops on AI, satellites, and direct-action activism.

Art and activism will meet in a protest sign workshop led by Deputy Mayor and graffiti artist Paavo Arhinmäki, where participants can create protest signs – with the best one winning a prize! The festival program also includes drag performances, live art, music, art panels (featuring, among others, author Iida Rauma), and award-winning documentaries.
And let’s not forget karaoke!
