What is Käänne-festival?
Käänne is a new and unique annual festival combining politics and culture, inviting everyone with a spark for change. At the heart of Käänne lies a vision of a more sustainable and brighter future, based on solidarity. Käänne is a space for new ideas, connection, and celebration – a place where we can grow stronger together.
The goals and vision of Käänne Festival are:
Strengthening the movement against destructive politics. Our goal is to create a space for people and communities to come together, take action, and forge a new direction in a world impoverished by right-wing politics. We aim to bridge the gap between parliamentary and economic power and social movements.
Bringing art to the center of the struggle. The challenges of an increasingly crisis-ridden world cannot be solved solely in the arenas of science or politics. We need art that captures the full range of experience and emotion, as well as the profound questions of life’s meaning. Käänne represents creative forms of organization, collaboration, and shared experiences.
Boundary-breaking collaboration. As cooperation between the traditional right and the far right strengthens, we too must ask: who could be our unlikely allies on the path towards a better future.
The event is backed by a group of Finnish actors from politics, economy and culture
who are determined to change the direction of Finland. We welcome all who wish to stand against short-sighted politics that deepen inequality. The future can be brighter. We just need a turning point — Käänne.
